Apple is known to update its AirPods lineup regularly. As such, many Apple fans eagerly anticipate the release of the AirPods 4. However, one common question among users is “Do AirPods 3 Cases Fit AirPods 4?”. In short, the AirPods 3 case will not fit the latest AirPods 4.While they look similar, the AirPods 4 case is smaller and features different speaker/sensor placements.
In this article, we’ll explore the differences between the two models and help you make an informed decision about your AirPods 4 cases.
AirPods 3 vs AirPods 4: Design Changes
The transition from the AirPods 3 to the AirPods 4 will bring about several notable improvements with some design changes, with a slightly different size and dimensions compared to the AirPods 3. This change is undoubtedly a key difference in the size of both models and therefore will make the AirPods 4 unfit for the AirPods 3 Case.
Can AirPods 4 Fit in AirPods 3 Case?
Straight forward answer, No! The protective cases of AirPods 3 and AirPods 4 are not interchangeable. Launched in 2021, the current AirPods 3 will have a similar shape as the AirPods 4. However, their sizes will be different. The current AirPods 3 has a height of 46.4mm, width of 54.4mm, depth of 21.38mm, and weight of 37.9g. The protective case of AirPods 3 cannot fit the AirPods 4. The AirPods 4 will have a slightly different size compared to the previous AirPods 3 model. To ensure proper fit and overall compatibility, it’s recommended to use the right protective case that is specially made for the AirPods 4 model.

Do You Need a Case for AirPods 4th Generation?
Most people think that protective cases are not important and so they only place value on charging cases. Indeed charging cases are only required to charge and pair. Once that is done, the case is not required to be close by. It can be 100 miles away, and the AirPods will still work with the paired iPhone.
One of the main reasons you would need to buy a case cover for your AirPod 4 is for the added protection. An AirPod 4 case cover can protect against external damage and minimize dirt and dust reaching your AirPods and any ports.
While you can technically use the AirPods 4 without a protective case, it is highly recommended to use the case protector for the full range of features and functionality it offers. The AirPods 4 case cover is essential for providing physical protection for your priced accessory. When you buy a protective case for your AirPods 4, you can rest assured that the case will offer some level of protection for your AirPods against accidental drops and daily wear and tear.
